Classic Covers
Classic CoversZoom

Classic Covers has its origins in the early 1990s, when classic motor boat enthusiasts Rod & Hazel Champkin were unable to find anybody prepared to build tailored covers in soft traditional canvas for their classic boats. The problem was solved by investing in the equipment needed and simply 'doing it themselves'.

Word spread, especially among the classic boat fraternity, and requests were received from other owners for covers "the same as those you have on your boats".

In due course, an enlarged workshop enabled orders to be taken from a wider customer base. In 2000, this led to what had been a hobby becoming a business, initially specialising in bespoke tailored covers made from traditional cotton duck canvas to fit trailed boats which could be brought to the workshop.

Progression from there was - and continues to be - led by customer demand. Located in the heart of Norfolk, just outside Norwich, it was inevitable that customers with larger boats kept on the Norfolk Broads would be in need of specialised cover-making facilities. This of course led to the introduction of modern hi-tech fabrics, which are offered in addition to the original traditional canvas materials. These fabrics are available in a wide range of colours to suit all tastes.

Further broadening of the range of work offered came when a customer requested an otherwise unobtainable cover in heavy canvas for a wartime military truck. Once again, customer demand ruled the day and military-style fabrics and fittings were sourced to facilitate this. Subsequently, many one-off and highly specialised projects have been completed for customers with classic military vehicles.

Flexibility has always been the keynote. Whether for a boat, military vehicle or indeed any other purpose from sun awnings to garden furniture covers, Classic Covers is here to help and advise. The non-standard is our speciality; customers with unusual requirements are always welcomed - and we're happy to undertake repairs & alterations too, including replacement windows and zips.
